Budget-Friendly Ways to Pamper Your Cat

Do you have a kitty? If you do, we’re guessing your furball has you wrapped around that cute little paw of hers. Cats do have a way of melting our hearts with their adorable faces and endearing mannerisms. It’s only natural that you want to pamper your feline buddy. Below, a Sharon veterinarian offers advice on how to spoil your cat without breaking the bank.

A cat tower placed before a window will provide your cat with exercise; a scratching post; a napping spot; and live entertainment, in the form of birds and squirrels. If you can’t afford a kitty tower right now, get Fluffy a window perch instead. You can also just position a comfy sofa or armchair in front of a window, or go the DIY route and build a kitty tower out of lumber scraps and small carpet pieces.

Laser Toys

While our feline friends are not unanimous on this one, many kitties love playing with laser pointers. Check local discount stores. You might be able to pick one up for as little as a dollar!

No one is exactly sure why cats are so attracted to boxes, though it probably has something to do with the fact that our furry pals often feel safe in small spaces. Then again, kitties seem to have their own laws when it comes to physics! The important thing to remember is that kitties love boxes. Paper grocery bags are also very popular with our feline friends.

DIY Toys

You can make all sorts of cute kitty toys without spending much money. Scrunch up a piece of paper into a ball, or make a catnip toy out of a baby sock. You can also create cat caves out of everyday items you probably already have in your home, like tee shirts and wire hangers.

Growing your own catnip or cat grass is a great way to save money on your furball’s entertainment. Just don’t plant too much, as otherwise you might find your yard becoming a favorite hangout for stray cats!
Of course, the cheapest way to pamper your furball? Pet her and play with her! It won’t cost a thing, and you’ll have one happy kitty on your hands!
