New Year’s Resolutions Inspired by Cats

Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions this year? If so, you may want to look to your cat for inspiration. As it turns out, Fluffy has some wonderful life lessons to share with us! Read on as a Newmarket, ON vet lists some great resolutions we can borrow from kitties.

Get Plenty Of Rest

If cats had just one golden rule to follow, it’s probably safe to say that rule would be about sleep. Our drowsy feline pals can snooze up to 20 hours a day! While you probably don’t need quite that much rest, it is important to make sure you’re getting enough sleep.

Show Your Affection

Although Fluffy has tried very hard to build her reputation for being a cold, uncaring killer, we’re not entirely convinced. Some kitties are very affectionate, and want to be petted 24/7! And, when your furball hops into your lap, purring, there’s a good chance your heart will melt a bit. Show your loved ones that you care!

Work and play are kind of the same thing for kitties. After all, Fluffy did once earn her keep by catching mice and other vermin. Nowadays, your pet may not have to do much other than look cute, but she’ll still love pouncing on and playing with her toys. Offer your kitty lots of playthings, and play with her regularly. Remember to take time off for just having fun, too!

Be Yourself!

Cats may be small, but they have big purrsonalities, and are full of charisma. It’s almost impossible not to chuckle at some of Fluffy’s adorable quirks. Suffice it to say, kitties don’t worry about whether or not they look silly. Be yourself!

Speak Your Mind

If you’ve ever moved your pet from her chosen napping spot, or plucked her off a table, you may have gotten a cute little meow of protest in response. Fluffy also isn’t afraid to let us know what she thinks of baths and car rides. Don’t be afraid to share your opinion!

Always Look Your Best

Cats spend as much as a third of their awake time grooming themselves. Fluffy certainly is dedicated to her daily beauty ritual! Always put your best foot—or paw—forward.
