Choosing Cat Furniture

Does your cat have some furniture all her own? Fluffy doesn’t have many qualms about getting comfortable on our beds, sofas, and laps, but she does benefit from having a few things made just for her. Read on as a Newmarket, ON vet offers some helpful tips on picking out furniture for your feline pal.

All Cats

No matter what kind of kitty you have: young, old, fluffy, sleek, playful, or shy, it’s safe to say that Fluffy will appreciate a comfy bed. Actually, there’s no reason you can’t offer your furball multiple beds. Cats never get tired of seeking out new napping spots! Boxes are also a safe bet. Most of our feline friends love cardboard boxes! If you want to go all-out, make your kitty a box castle.

Shy Kitties

If you have a timid kitty, your scaredy cat will probably appreciate having lots of places to hide. That way, your pet will always have a place to retreat to if she feels frightened. Get your furry friend some pet tents or tipis, or a cat tower with an enclosed level.

Multiple Cats

Do you have more than one kitty? Choose pieces that can fit all of your feline buddies at once, such as a multi-level cat tower. That way, Fluffy and Mittens won’t have to compete for space.

Cats That Climb

Does your furry little buddy love heights? Get a tall cat tower, one with several levels, so your pet can get a good view of her kingdom. You can also get Fluffy some kitty shelves, or even a catwalk. These are great options for catios!

Lazy Cats/Senior Kitties

As Fluffy gets older, she’ll become more and more interested in napping, and less interested in playing. However, kitties of all ages enjoy birdwatching. Get your cat a comfy spot in front of a window with a good view. Keep in mind that your furry friend may have trouble jumping, so set out some pet ramps or stairs for your furball. You may also want to choose pieces with the lowest level close to the floor.

DIY Options

If you’re working with a tight budget, look online for DIY options. You may be surprised at how many great ideas you can find online!
