Our Veterinarians

Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, & care deeply about what we do every day.

Dr. Williams

Dr. Leslie Williams

Owner, Veterinarian

Ever since she was young, Dr. Leslie Williams has had a deep passion for zoology and medicine. The prospect of working in a diverse range of animal care applications—small-animal, farm and equine work, marine biology, even scientific research or disease prevention—was all the encouragement an impressionable 13-year-old needed to choose the veterinary field!

Dr. Williams was born on a farm in Trinidad, an island just north- east of South America. Her father was a veterinarian for the University of the West Indies’ departments of agriculture and livestock science, and young Dr. Williams couldn’t help but fall in love with her father’s work. She attended the University of Guelph for both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees, working in Port Hope, Ontario for a few years before entering small-animal practice and opening Armitage Animal Clinic in 1999.

As a veterinarian, Dr. Williams has special interests in internal medicine, pharmacology, and surgery. She is a member of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association.

When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Williams relishes family time with her husband John and their wonderful daughter, Marina. They share their home with an extremely affectionate chocolate Labrador, Sage, and the aloof feline patriarch of the house, Toby. Dr. Williams is a self-proclaimed international news junkie and an avid reader, and she also enjoys classical music, ballet, and theatre.

Dr. Veronica Sues

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Veronica is a 2012 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College. She comes to Armitage after practising for six years in Sudbury Ontario. She is an Aurora native moving back to be closer to her family and is thrilled to be welcomed by the Armitage family. She has special interests in surgery, geriatric pet care and in fear free veterinary visits.

Veronica grew up in a busy household and participated in many extracurricular activities, but no surprise, her favorite activities were the ones that included the family pet. She never could understand why her dog couldn’t go with her to swimming lessons or on scouts camping trips. She recognized early that all she wanted to do was spend her time with animals. Veronica always knew she would follow in her grandfather’s footsteps to become a veterinarian.

At home Veronica is an avid crafter and gardener, and yes, her dogs Lihlik and Bonsai and her cat Eddie, go where she goes.

Dr. Leah Knoll

Dr. Leah Knoll

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Knoll graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005.  Prior to working at Armitage, she worked as a relief veterinarian and rehabilitation practitioner in a variety of small animal clinics and referral centres in the GTA.  She became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), through the University of Tennessee, in July 2018.  Her passion for a multimodal approach to pain management, led her to additional training in acupuncture.  She completed her Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) certification in April 2023.  She thoroughly enjoys working with her patients and their caregivers to ease their pet’s pain and improve their quality of life and mobility, no matter what age or stage they are at.  Leah also has a special interest in feline medicine and palliative care.

Dr. Knoll grew up on a farm in Bruce County and from an early age embraced caring for a variety of animals and pets.  She has been an active member of the Newmarket community for almost 20 years.   You will find Leah involved in a variety of activities, such as supporting local schools, youth theatre, hockey, cheering on the Newmarket Hawks and volunteering at Community Veterinary Outreach clinics.  She is also a veterinary first responder for the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre, treating injured, wild turtles.

Dr. Knoll loves spending time with her family, including her rambunctious rescue dog, Rey and 3 rescued cats, Leonardo DiCatprio, Maxximus Digitus and Princess Poppy.
