Do you have a plan in place should your pet require urgent veterinary care?

Despite our best efforts to keep our four-legged family members safe and healthy, emergencies happen. The most important thing you can do as a pet parent is be prepared ahead of time. This includes knowing who to call in the event that your pet requires urgent medical attention.

Armitage Animal Clinic is equipped to provide emergency medical, diagnostic and surgical care in a moment’s notice. Our staff is trained in delivering urgent care and is prepared to handle even the most critical of situations with swiftness and efficiency.

Some of the more common pet emergencies we can assist with include, but are not limited to:

  • Choking or difficulty breathing
  • Ingestion of a toxic substance or foreign object
  • Broken or fractured bones
  • Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
  • Persistent vomiting or diarrhea (lasting more than 24 hours)
  • Bleeding
  • Sudden lameness
  • Swollen or tender abdomen
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Traumatic injury, such as being hit by a car or suffering a fall
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Convulsions/seizures

If any of these things occur, we recommend contacting us immediately. Calling ahead allows us to better prepare for your pet’s arrival. In many cases, we may also be able to provide advice and guidance on first aid that you can apply in the interim. Of course, if there’s simply no time to place a phone call, don’t hesitate to come directly the clinic for immediate attention.

Critical care is available any time during our normal business hours. For after-hours emergencies, we have several 24/7 urgent care clinics whom we trust to deliver exceptional care.
